Minty Floral

I don't recall seeing this print in the retail shops, but when it came out with the latest new arrivals at the factory store, the pretty floral and color mix got me like POW. I was smitten and could not resist snagging this print in both the blouse and pencil skirt (there's also a dress, but I thought separates would be more versatile). I already wore the top once this weekend and today I'm going pretty much head-to-toe. If this minty floral print comes out in shorts, a cardi, button-down, I may be all over it (edit: I did just  realize the print does come in cropped pants and shoot, they do have the shorts! Mint print overload coming ...)

"Rayures Noires et Blanches"

black stripes + pink

Every time I wear black and white stripes, I envision myself looking like a jaunty Parisian (which is completely incorrect for many reasons) - though my friends and co-workers prefer to break it down more basically for me by referring to me in stripes as the Hamburglar or a French person of the mime variety. Sigh, thanks again, pals. How do you say "robble, robble" in French?

Weekend Style

I love getting dressed for the weekend when the weather is getting warmer but there's still that faint nip in the air. To me it means sleeping in, then changing into comfortable lightweight layers and my softest jeans with shoes that feel like I'm wearing slippers. I'm missing you already, Saturday and Sunday ...

Olive, Leopard and Stripes

field mechanic + stripes

So I spent the last several weeks binge-watching Gilmore Girls on Netflix for the first time and just finished with season 7 earlier this week ... and now what do I do with all this free time I've got? Better use a bit of it to wear these fab ankle boots before it gets too warm out. And to don my fave Freaks and Geeks-worthy jacket. And to (im)patiently wait for the Gilmore Girls revival to come out!

Green Days

I'm not necessarily big on theme dressing, but with St. Patrick's Day coming up this week, it has reminded me how little I tend to wear the beautiful color green. So I thought it'd be fun to pull together some outfit ideas for this week centered around green.

For Work:

Bumblebee

black + yellow

My work requires that I dress in business to business casual attire most of the time, so instead of a plain ole solid matching suit, I usually like to mix my pieces up a bit (I actually don't own a matching suit). Also to add in a bit of that "Lisa quirk," I throw in a bold color, jumble in some stripes, maybe add a touch or two of bling. I tend to tone things down if I have an executive meeting or am traveling, but this is usual appropriate-but-probably-mildly-eccentric dressed self.

Red and Blue

This skirt was an Ebay find that for sure will be a spring staple in my wardrobe. These silver mirror metallic flats and purse? I will forever be pairing them together and love how the metallic finish instantly helps to modernize anything I wear. And the trench? Can't get through those spring showers without a light layer - and this version has a fun animal print lining - win!

Out on the Field

field mechanic + gingham

Here's another go at my wearing the field mechanic jacket. This has quickly become my go-to casual weekend outerwear for its light warmth and ease. And since I think gingham goes with pretty much everything, gingham and this jacket will see a whole lot of each other.

And off-topic, but who else is sad about the end of Downton Abbey? What am I going to do without my weekly fix of Mary's bitchiness, the Dowager's quips, Mosley's innocent blundering and sweet, dedicated Anna? Good thing I'm nose-deep into binge-watching Gilmore Girls right now to help lessen the pain ...
