Colorblock with Camel

colorblock stripes

When I first purchased this dress, I thought it would be an easy piece for me to ride out the remainder of summer in, considering it feels like I'm wearing pajamas out. But now that I tried layering a striped tee under the dress? It has totally changed the piece for me. Prepare to see this piece take me well within the SE fall ...

Tweed Printed

sleeveless ponte sheath

I often have to go into work environments where business attire is required, so a lot of pieces in my closet are pretty much suit separates. But let's face it, business attire is not really super duper comfy - and I haaaaaaaaaate being uncomfortable - so I've been real happy that ponte knits in more business-y cuts have been gaining popularity with retailers these past few seasons.

So this dress from Lands' End is right up my alley. It's stretchy and soft, thick enough so that I don't have to worry about what kind of underthings I'm wearing, plus it's got a cool tweed-y print without being actual tweed (ew, itchy, thick ...) And I knew the fit would work for me since I already own the keyhole version in black and teal. And I also own about 2,367 other knit dresses from Lands' End because - hello, comfortable!

Now, Later and After: Utility Vest

utility vest 3-ways

It's kind of that weird fall-but-not time of year where I could potentially wear any of these outfits on any given day and still be weather-appropriate. But we are definitely entering layering season and I do love my layers as you can well see here.

So today's post highlights another one of my layering favorites, the utility vest. Granted the first time I wore this vest out I did get a MacGyver comment from a co-worker ... but what do most men know about style anyways? Since then this piece has become a workhorse in my wardrobe and I adore the opportunity to dress it up and down.

I've seen the fatigue green utility vest around a lot on the blogosphere and I am always looking for new ideas on how to wear mine (or to justify getting another one, hehe ...) - how do you ladies like to wear your vests?

Eyelet Scrolls

Still in my wear-all-my-summer-things-while-I-still-can mode so this light-weight cotton ensemble had to get together. I never thought of myself as much of a summer baby but this needing to put on a layer thing when I walk the pup in the mornings is kind of no bueno. Who knew that a gal who grew up with NY winters now would frown upon a cool morning? I guess all that talk about liking the crisp fall air from previous posts was just a bunch of c-c-chatter.

Blue Floral Wrapping

blue floral

I've got a few more weeks of summery temps here in the Southeast, but I am definitely in the "wear it while I still can" mode for my warm weather pieces. This lovely dress hasn't gotten near enough love from me this season so of course I had to break it out again. And pairing it with coral/poppy/modern red ... well I'll gladly pair almost anything with this favorite tomato-ish hue.
